Made it through the Devil’s Backbone

Harbour Island

We made it through the Devil’s Backbone and arrived here in Harbour Island at around 3 pm.  The reefs that are offlying the north coast of Eleuthera have this gruesome nickname because if you picked the wrong weather to try this – forget it.  In good light and decent piloting skills, though, and with the right wind, it is definitely do-able.  The scenery is pretty awe-inspiring as well.

Maddie and Julian were great lookouts!

I love this picture . . .

If you are still on Harbour Island call Jack and Kathy Koch. They have a house at South Bar. The number is 333 – 3367 (it might be 3366 but I am pretty sure it’s 3367). They’ll show you around and maybe give you a shower and show you where to drop the hook off South Bar.
